EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO CHIEF & COUNCIL

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Administration Department has a position available for an Executive Assistant to Chief and Council based out of the Band/Administration Office in Chateh. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare agendas and notices for meetings
  • Take and transcribe dictation on a senior level, compose routine correspondence
  • Read reports/correspondence for review or signature of officials to ensure that all important matters have been covered and utilize standardized grammar, format and style
  • Research, read and summarize reports/articles of interest and obtain information from various sources
  • prepare graphs, charts and graphics depicting research results, comparisons of data presented and to illustrate reports and proposals

Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 10, supplemented by college courses for senior and executive secretarial work
  • 4 years of work experience in senior secretarial positions, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of business English spelling and punctuation; modern office methods, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures of First Nation programs and operations
  • Ability to plan, organize and meet target deadlines
  • Excellent typing, minute taking, transcribing and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer programs
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to speak the Dene language is a definite asset

The successful candidate must provide a current Criminal Record Check. Must also have a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Other requirements may be applicable.

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Social Development Program is currently recruiting for an Income Support Worker (Caseworker). The position is located out of the Social Development Office in Chateh. This is a full time TERM position.

Duties Include:

  • Determine eligibility for assistance based on program policies
  • Encourage and assist clients to access training and employment opportunities
  • Refer and assist clients to access other services provided by other agencies
  • Monthly program and annual reports

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education with experience working in an office setting
  • Must be computer literate and have experience with computer software programs
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be very organized
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle stressful situations
  • Must be capable of working independently and in a group setting

The successful candidate must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Must also have a valid Alberta Driver’s License and reliable transportation. Other requirements may be applicable.

Cook – Dene Tha’ Community School – Chateh

Dene Tha’ Education is currently accepting applications for a Cook for the Dene Tha’ Community School in Chateh for the upcoming school year 2019-2020.

Duties include: Meal preparation, plan and display a weekly menu and ensure meals are adapted to children who have allergies, ensure proper food storage, and ensure kitchen area is sanitized and in proper order.

Requirements: the successful candidate must have a valid food safety certificate, valid first aid / CPR certification, knowledge of traditional and non-traditional cooking techniques, have a good understanding of Canada’s Food Guide, have strong communications skills, must be dependable, and must provide a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

First Responder Training – Chateh

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Health Program through the Chateh Health Centre is offering First Responders training. The training date(s) will be posted by the Health Program.

Training:

  • Will be hands-on training and classroom lectures,
  • On how to respond to emergencies, quickly assess and decide the proper course of action;
  • Teaches skills and knowledge to assist the patient until advanced medical personnel arrive.

Requirements:

  • Have good communication and written skills,
  • Be dependable and reliable,
  • Be alcohol and drug free;
  • Ability to speak the Dene Language is considered an asset

Summer Student Coordinator – Chateh, Meander River and Bushe River

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Economic Development Program is seeking to fill the three (3) term positions of Summer Student Coordinator for each community of Chateh, Meander River and Bushe River.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Job placements for Summer Students
  • Supervising all summer students
  • Create weekly reports and term end report

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Priority will be given to Post-Secondary students, but open to non-students as well.
  • All applicants must be within the age of 15-30 years.
  • Must have good communication and written skills
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation

Water Truck Driver – Bushe River

The DTFN Infrastructure Services/Operations & Maintenance department (OMD) has a position available immediately for a Water Truck Driver for the community of Bushe River. Must be available to be on call evenings/weekends. Must live in the area, travel is not provided.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • The safe transportation and dispensing of water from the water tanks to the housing units
  • Providing weekly operational records, performing minor maintenance and servicing, maintaining interior and exterior appearance of the unit
  • Staying current with transportation laws and regulations
  • Reporting to the Bushe River Foreman.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience operating a Tandem Truck
  • Must have Class 3 Licence with Air Brakes Endorsement (provide proof with resume)
  • Provide a Driver’s Abstract with resume (must have clean record)
  • Must be physically able
  • Hold valid safety certificates
  • Must be available on short notice

Part-Time Janitor – N’deh Limited Partnership – Bushe River

Property Manager – N’Deh Partnership

N’deh Limited Partnership is seeking to fill the position for a Property Manager. This is a full time one-year term position based out of the N’deh office in Bushe River.  Property managers look after buildings, housing, industrial spaces and other property to make sure it is in good working order, looks clean and well-maintained and ensure everything is in working order. Depending on the type of real estate, property managers might interview potential renters to discuss leasing and property rules, collect rent or association fees, look after the building, arrange any needed repairs, look after grounds keeping, pay any municipal bills, answer complaints and concerns from tenant, create budgets and make sure the building complies with all laws.

Duties Include:

  • Attracts tenants by advertising vacancies, screening prospective tenants
  • Rent collection, move in/move out reports, lease signing
  • Maintains building systems by contracting for maintenance services, supervising repairs and or maintenance staff
  • Financial management of budgets, data entry of invoices, rent payments, forecasting
  • Preparing annual budget
  • Maintains records for all past and current properties
  • Maintains properties by inspection
  • Tenant coordination; respond to tenant enquiries in a timely manner
  • Coordination of landscaping and snow removal
  • Establishing and enforcing policies and procedures

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education
  • One to two years experience working as a property manager considered an asset
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have good written and interpersonal skills
  • Must have transportation and a Valid Drivers Licence

DUTIES Include:

  • Regular maintenance of buildings, doing minor repairs, ensuring walkways and grounds are maintained
  • Reporting any problems to the proper department
  • Other duties as maybe required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Experience/training in building maintenance
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Ability to read blue prints and maintenance manuals
  • Have good communication and written skills
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License
  • Must have reliable transportation
