Custodian – Bushe River

The DTFN Infrastructure Services/Operations & Maintenance department (OMD) has a full-time position available for a Custodian based out of the Administration office in Bushe River.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Sweep and mop floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust furniture and woodwork; clean and disinfect washrooms; empty waste baskets
  • Maintain rugs and carpets by vacuuming and shampooing
  • Maintain floors by stripping, washing, waxing, and polishing
  • Wash walls and ceilings, windows, and blinds as per schedule
  • Ensure cleaning material and washroom supplies are in stock
  • Ensure security of building and contents
  • Report minor repairs and maintenance to the Operations & Maintenance Manager

Qualifications:

  • Previous training and/or experience in this area considered an asset
  • Knowledge of materials and supplies used in commercial cleaning
  • Ability to operate and maintain janitorial equipment
  • Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, moving furniture and equipment
  • First Aid and WHMIS Certification

Income Support Coordinator – Bushe River

The Dene Tha’ Got’sats’eni-Dats’e dii/Social Development Program has a full-time (contract) position with benefits available for an Income Support Coordinator based out of the Social Development Office at the Four Chiefs Complex in Bushe River.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Review budget and financial statements to ensure conformance with program guidelines
  • Submit monthly and annual program reports to the funding agency
  • Verify the eligibility of submissions for all special needs requests
  • Perform the duties of a Social Allowance Caseworker
  • Deliver effective programming by supervising the operation of services provided within the department
  • Prepare annual work plans
  • Other related duties as required or assigned by the Director of Social Development

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma with post-secondary training
  • Previous experience in a social / human services work environment
  • Must have excellent communication and written skills
  • Must have solid planning, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Must have computer systems knowledge and be proficient in Microsoft computer software applications
  • Strong ability to deal tactfully with clients in stressful situations
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to speak and understand the Dene language is a definite asset
  • Class 5 Alberta Driver’s license and reliable transportation

Director of Infrastructure Services

The Dene Tha’ First Nation (DTFN) Infrastructure Services Department is recruiting a Director for Infrastructure Services based out of the Administration office in Bushe River, Alberta. This is a full-time (2-year contract) position with a competitive benefits package.

Position Summary

The Dene Tha’ First Nation delivers services and programs to three fully accessible communities-Bushe River, Chateh (formerly known as Assumption), and Meander River. Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations, this position is responsible for leadership; for planning, development, and coordination of delivery of services for the Infrastructure (water, sewer, landfill, roads, housing, open space maintenance) in accordance with approved DTFN policies and Business Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Evaluates the effectiveness of Infrastructure policies, programs, and resources, and established objectives, reviews issues and makes recommendations to the EDO for appropriate action. Develops for approval, Department operating/capital and long-term budgets that support the mandate of the Department and meet the goals and objectives of Council. Directs and evaluates operational/capital requirements and service delivery and maximizes efficiencies, fostering partnerships, altering operational delivery, applying current technology, and providing appropriate staff training. Maintains, implements, and regularly reviews the municipality’s utilities and housing infrastructure operating policies and development standards. Advises relevant personnel, departments, and consultants of DTFN standards and policies, monitors compliance, recommends additions or changes to the EDO, prepares reports as requested. Develops and recommends appropriate safety and risk management procedures within the Department. Attends all meetings as required. Meets regularly with senior management team and Department employees to keep abreast of operations, facilitate two-way information exchange and provides input for operational activities. Liaises with provincial government, federal government, other First Nations, industry, and the public regarding technical, financial, and day-to-day matters. Responsible for reports to update GIS spatial databases. Responds to public inquiries and complaints according to approved policies. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by the EDO.

Qualifications:

University or College degree with related Public Works certifications and/or technical experience (Level 1 Water Treatment Certificate). Five or more years of progressive responsible supervisory experience, preferably in an operations, utility or public works environment including: effective management, team building, facilitation, negotiation, leadership, and supervisory strengths, with a commitment for continuous improvement. Personal initiative with good planning and organizational skills as well as a high degree of integrity and professionalism. Strong capacity to identify needs, plan and develop goals, priorities, and other outcome measures. Hands-on application and use of computer systems and applications. Coordination and supervision of capital projects. Familiarity with sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act that apply to public works and utilities.

The successful candidate must be bondable, have a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation, and be willing to travel. Must also lead and maintain an addiction free life style. Remuneration dependent on qualification and experience.

Water Quality Monitoring – Bushe River & Chateh

The DTFN Health Program is currently looking for an individual to provide water monitoring by conducting routine water sampling and chlorine residual monitoring according to the established schedule for the community of Bushe River and Chateh.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect and send water samples for testing; analyse samples using in-community testing equipment
  • Assist Environment Health Officer to provide guidance and recommendations to the community about boil water advisories, food safety training, public education activities, interpretation, housing inspection and community events inspection
  • Participate during investigation of communicable disease outbreak and emergency response related to environmental public health
  • Conduct water sampling once a week
  • Once a month on water trucks
  • Once a year on cisterns

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with Valid Class 5 Driver’s License & Standard First Aid
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction with excellent communication skills
  • Able to plan and provide presentation and workshop to public
  • Able to supply: Criminal Record Check

*Experience not necessary – training will be provided

Camp Work – Janitor – N’deh Limited Partnership

N’deh Limited Partnership is seeking an individual to provide cleaning services at a camp in Northern Alberta.
14 days on, 7 days off, working 10 hour days. 6:30AM to 5PM with ½ hour unpaid lunch.
You are tasked to keep the buildings clean and in an orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing waste.
Requirements:

  • All required PPE

    • Confined Space

Child care Worker & Cook – Bushe River

The Dene Tha’ First Nation has two positions available immediately based out of the Rising Generations Daycare Centre in Bushe River. One position is for a term full-time childcare worker and the other position is for a temporary part-time cook.

Childcare Worker Position

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan, organize and lead daily activities that aim to stimulate the intellectual, physical and emotional growth of children
  • Must assist with the preparation of educational programs
  • Maintain constant supervision indoors and outdoors
  • Assist the children with their everyday needs

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Child Care Level 2 certificate (*Must provide a copy)
  • Valid First Aid / CPR certification (*Must provide a copy)
  • Must be dependable and reliable with strong communication skills
  • Must be capable of taking instruction from supervisor
  • Enjoy working with young children

Qualifications:
