COMMUNITY HEALTH REPRESENTATIVE (CHR)

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Oojon T’sana/Health Services has a position available for a Community Health Representative (CHR), based out of the Four Chiefs Complex in Bushe River. This is a full-time position with benefits. Must live in the area, travel is not provided.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Promote awareness of various community health services programs
  • Provide cross-cultural instruction & act as a liaison between health care providers and community leaders and/or members
  • Provide pre-natal and post-natal support to expectant mothers
  • Record clients’ health history and provide an assessment of needs
  • Promote awareness and understanding of immunizations to prevent, monitor and control communicable diseases
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate community health plans
  • Assist members and families who have special needs due to physical disabilities and/or psychological conditions
  • Promote the importance of healthy lifestyles within the community

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Community Health Representative (CHR) Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer programs
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to speak the Dene language is a definite asset
  • Class 5 Driver’s license and reliable transportation

The successful candidate must provide a current criminal record check and a child welfare clearance check.

Dene Tha Community School Hallway Monitors – Chateh

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide care, security, safety to students and staff
  • Assist students to correct class and learning areas
  • Performs duties such as bus, gym, lunch, detention, suspension
  • Monitors school, school grounds
  • Assists with behavior management
  • Completes reports and day report
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration

Qualifications

  • First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (DTCS will provide)
  • Good attendance
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check
  • Access to vehicle is an asset. Current driver’s licence
  • Ability to complete reports
  • Ability to take direction from school administration
  • Willing to establish good rapport with all students, staff, parent/guardians and community
  • Can and will maintain confidentiality

Medical Transportation Clerk Training – Chateh

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Health Program is offering Medical Transportation Clerk training at the Chateh Health Centre. The training will be held once enough applicants have applied.

Training:

  • Will be for approx. one week
  • Provided by North Peace Tribal Council
  • On how to book medical appointments, fill out paper work for client transportation, handle invoices, and various office procedures;
  • As well as working with the Doctor and Nurses

Requirements:

  • Must have good communication and written skills
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to speak the Dene Language is considered an asset

Maintenance Worker – Bushe River

The DTFN Operation and Maintenance Department is currently seeking to fill a vacant position for a full-time Building Maintenance Worker in Bushe River.  Must live in the area, travel is not provided.

Duties Include:

  • Regular maintenance of buildings, doing minor repairs, ensuring walkways and grounds are maintained
  • Reporting any problems to the proper department
  • Other duties as maybe required

Requirments:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Experience/training in building maintenance
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Ability to read blue prints and maintenance manuals
  • Have good communication and written skills
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License
  • Must have reliable transportation

Receptionist – Chateh Health Center

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Health Services is currently offering casual employment opportunities to fill in for the Receptionist at the Health Centre in Chateh when required.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Receive, direct and relay telephone messages and fax messages
  • Open, sort and date stamp all general correspondence
  • Direct the members and the general public to the appropriate staff member
  • Maintain the general filing system and file all correspondence
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of meetings, conferences and conference calls
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of office supplies
  • Respond to public inquiries
  • Provide word-processing and secretarial support
  • Coordinate the repair and maintenance of office equipment
  • Other general office duties as may be required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Certificate in Office Administration or previous experience is an asset
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be computer literate
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to speak the Dene language fluently is an asset

Infrastructure Services Administrative Assistant – Chateh

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Infrastructure Services has a position available for an Administrative Assistant who reports directly to the Infrastructure Services Manager. This is a full-time position based out of the DTFN Administration Office in Chateh.

Duties Include:

  • Data entry
  • Filing
  • Assist with property management rent collection
  • Receive Renovation and Housing Applications
  • Explain the Housing Policy and selection process to members applying for housing
  • Help with tracking work orders
  • Require working with all departments under Infrastructure Services
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Experience and/or knowledge of office filing systems
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures will be considered an asset
  • Must have good communication and written skills
  • Can speak Dene
  • Able to work independently
  • Must also have a valid Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation
