Property Manager – N’deh Limited Partnership

N’deh Limited Partnership is seeking to fill the position for a Property Manager. This is a full time one-year term position based out of the N’deh office in Bushe River.  Property managers look after buildings, housing, industrial spaces and other property to make sure it is in good working order, looks clean and well-maintained and ensure everything is in working order. Depending on the type of real estate, property managers might interview potential renters to discuss leasing and property rules, collect rent or association fees, look after the building, arrange any needed repairs, look after grounds keeping, pay any municipal bills, answer complaints and concerns from tenant, create budgets and make sure the building complies with all laws.

Duties Include:

  • Attracts tenants by advertising vacancies, screening prospective tenants
  • Rent collection, move in/move out reports, lease signing
  • Maintains building systems by contracting for maintenance services, supervising repairs and or maintenance staff
  • Financial management of budgets, data entry of invoices, rent payments, forecasting
  • Preparing annual budget
  • Maintains records for all past and current properties
  • Maintains properties by inspection
  • Tenant coordination; respond to tenant enquiries in a timely manner
  • Coordination of landscaping and snow removal
  • Establishing and enforcing policies and procedures

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education
  • One to two years experience working as a property manager considered an asset
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have good written and interpersonal skills
  • Must have transportation and a Valid Drivers Licence

Executive Assistant to EDO – Bushe River

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Administration Department currently has a position available for an Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of Operations (EDO). This full-time position will be located out of the Administration Office in Bushe River.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains operating EDO office along with agendas and processing of reports intended for the EDO or Council.
  • Manages and maintains office records, etc.
  • Prepares documentation for and attends all meetings designated by the EDO, and assist as required. Records and prepares minutes of meetings.
  • Monitors the prompt handling of all requests, enquiries and grievances by residents or staff on behalf of the EDO.
  • Liaises with other First Nations, Provincial and Federal governments when required.
  • Opens and distributes incoming regular and electronic mail and other material.
  • Coordinates the flow of information internally and externally with other DTFN Departments.
  • Answers telephone and electronic enquiries and relays telephone calls and messages.
  • Greets visitors, members, ascertains nature of business and directs visitors to the appropriate person.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned by the EDO

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Education
  • 2 years minimum work experience in senior secretarial positions, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and reliable transportation

ASETS Technician – Bushe River

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Economic Development Program currently has a position available for an ASETS Technician for the communities of Bushe River and Meander River. This is a full-time TEMPORARY POSITION ONLY for approximately 2-3 months. This position will be located out of the Administration Office in Bushe River.  

 Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing, monitoring, and evaluating activities related to the employment and training needs of the First Nation
  • Providing employment counseling, placements, assistance/referrals, job searches and related services to the First Nation members
  • Arranging training and job search strategies
  • Serving as a liaison for First Nation members with various industries for job and training placements
  • Locating funding sources from government, industry, and First Nation programs
  • Maintaining a database of employment history, certifications, education/skills of First Nation members
  • Performing other related duties as required or assigned by the Ec. Dev. Manager

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 supplemented by a Business Administration certificate
  • 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Excellent communication/writing and people skills
  • Use of computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service

Gas Utility Operator – Meander River

The Dene Tha’ Natural Gas office has one full time position available for a Gas Utility Operator in the community of Meander River. 

 Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Pipe fitting
  • Emergency furnace repair
  • Gas line installations
  • Other duties as required

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 10 or GED equivalency
  • Possess valid safety tickets are an asset:  First Aid and CPR, H2S, WHMIS, TDG and Ground Disturbance
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Knowledge of the Dene language is a definite asset

Health Care Aides – Health Centre – Chateh

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Oojon T’sana/Health Program has two (2) Health Care Aide positions available, based out of the Health Centre in Chateh. These are full-time positions with benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Coordinator, the Health Care Aide provides ongoing or short-term home support services for members and families. Under supervision, performs routine health-related duties and administer personal care duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Providing care for members and families during periods of incapacitation, or convalescence
  • Assisting the doctors/nurses that are treating the patient
  • Checking to see that the patient follows the diet and/or takes medication on time as prescribed by the doctor
  • Administering bedside and personal care to members such as aid in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing
  • Caring for mostly elderly patients as well as other patients who have lost the mobility to do everyday tasks
  • Helping the patient gain their basic motor functions
  • Developing good relations with the patients and the family and guiding them in medical matters
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned by the Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent, and have First Aid, CPR Certification
  • Must have completed a recognized health care aide program or equivalent in providing nursing care with three to five (3-5) years’ experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer programs
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to speak the Dene language is a definite asset

The successful candidate must provide a current criminal record check and a child welfare clearance check. Must possess a Class 5 Driver’s License and have reliable transportation.

Security – Health Centre – Chateh

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Oojon T’sana/Health Program is currently recruiting for a full time Security employee for the Chateh Health Centre.

Duties:

  • Perform security checks of the building and the surrounding premises
  • Protect clients and staff by observing all activity and preventing potential problem situations
  • Keep a daily log book and report any incidents while maintaining confidentiality
  • Assist in emergencies or other incidents when required

Job Requirements:

  • Have excellent communication and written skills
  • Must be reliable, and flexible regarding shift work
  • Willing to take courses if required for First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Ability to speak the Dene language is considered an asset

Social Development – Administrative Assistant – Bushe River

The Dene Tha’ Social Development Program has a full-time position available for an Administrative Assistant who reports to the Director.

Duties Include:

  • Providing program support in the delivery of services within the prescribed department
  • Performing specific duties identified by the Director in an effective, efficient, and timely manner
  • In cooperation with department staff, encouraging teamwork and participating in staff development and training programs
  • Maintaining and supporting a positive and proactive Customer Services philosophy
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the Director

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Preferably with a Diploma in Office Administration or Business
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Experience and/or knowledge of office filing systems
  • Full knowledge of MS programs including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – N’deh Limited Partnership

The N’deh Limited Partnership (N’deh) is a diversified business with operations in Oil & Gas services, Forestry and both residential and commercial Property Management.
Our goal is to generate income and career opportunities for our stakeholders – the Dene Tha’ First Nation and its members; all while respecting their traditional values and cultural practices.

The N’deh Limited Partnership is the primary corporate entity for the Dene Tha’ First Nation; organized by the Ehda Cho Corporation (the General Partner) and the Dene Tha’ Corporate Trust (the Limited Partner). For ease of communication, the CEO of the Ehda Cho Corporation shall be referred to as the CEO of N’deh Limited Partnership.  The CEO of N’deh performs an important role in managing the business activities of N’deh Limited Partnership and its subsidiary businesses. The CEO also identifies new business ventures and investments which are in line with the
investment policy, strategic plan and other guiding documents established for N’deh.  The CEO works with their management team and the Board of Directors to pursue new business ventures and operate existing businesses to maximize profit in balance with the defined values and objectives of the Dene Tha’ First Nation.  The CEO shall have 6 direct reporting employees to supervise. In light of these direct reports, as well as relationship  management with the Dene Tha’ First Nation and businesses in the region, it is highly preferred to recruit a CEO who is
located in the vicinity of the Dene Tha’ First Nation (High Level, Alberta) or is willing to relocate.  The CEO is primarily responsible for:

  • Implementing the overall, long-term business plan approved by the Board of Directors
  • Developing operational plans and budgets for existing business units
  • Developing business cases for proposed investments and business ventures, to be presented to the Board for approval
  • Maintaining professional relationships with major clients, suppliers and other N’deh stakeholders, including the Dene Tha’ First Nation
  • Representing N’deh at various conferences, meetings and other public events, including quarterly/annual shareholder meetings
  • Preparing and using financial information and other reports as part of managing the ongoing operations of N’deh and its businesses
  • Ensuring that appropriate policies are in place to govern operations of N’deh and its businesses
  • Consulting with legal, financial and other advisors as needed to fulfill their fiduciary duty
  • Ensuring that appropriate steps are taken to keep business operations in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations (employment standards, environmental, accounting)
  • Chairing meetings of the Board
    CEO Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in Business or Economics;
  • Experience working in management/leadership positions in private industry, preferably resource development or property management;
  • Ability to prepare, understand and interpret financial statements and related financial data;
  • High-level understanding of relevant legislation and regulations that apply to industries/businesses which the NLP is involved in (property management, oil & gas exploration/development/remediation, forestry), including relevant HR regulations;
  • Cannot have been convicted of an indictable offence or a summary conviction offense involving fraud, theft or false pretenses in the previous 20 years; and
  • Experience working with aboriginal organizations is a strong asset. CEO Compensation:
  • The CEO’s compensation will be performance based, including a competitive annual salary, plus bonuses for achieving performance targets approved by the Board.
  • The CEO shall be reimbursed for travel-related expenses incurred while fulfilling their N’deh responsibilities.
