Courier Drive – Chateh

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Health Department is seeking a dedicated and team-oriented Addiction Coordinator to join the team. This is a supervisory position and is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating prevention programs to meet the members needs within the Nation’s three communities. This is a two-year contract position with a possible extension and comes with competitive benefits and a pension plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises the Addiction Counseling and Brighter Futures programs.
  • Provide information on available programs and make referrals when needed.
  • Maintain an efficient working relationship with Health, Schools, Mental Health – Crisis Counselors, Elders, Traditional teachers, and Child & Family services.
  • Facilitate programs and engage Elders to help with Dene Tha’ cultural teachings and healing.
  • Organize and plan cultural activities for clients.
  • Assist clients to continue with recovery plan after treatment by providing them with life skills, education, and intervention.
  • Case management and highly confidential record keeping practice.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budget and provide quarterly financial reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in health or social sciences, psychology, health promotion, social work or equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ work-related experience.
  • Organization/administrative management, planning, organizing human resources, analytical and communication, and some counseling knowledge and skills required.
  • Demonstrate positive role model for staff, clients, and community at large.
  • Experience working in an Indigenous community and knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset.
  • Must be computer literate and have experience with computer software programs.
  • First Aid/CPR a definite asset; ability to speak Dene language is also considered an asset.
  • Ability to be on-call after hours including weekends.
  • Must have own transportation and a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License; provide a clear Criminal Record with a Vulnerable Sector check and a Child Intervention check.

Security

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Administration has term positions available for Security for the communities of Bushe River, Chateh and Meander River, AB. Preference will be given to members that have the required training.

Duties:

  • Perform security in the communities to keep members safe.
  • Keep a daily logbook and report any incidents while maintaining confidentiality.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write.
  • Must be reliable and flexible to work nights.
  • Ability to speak the Dene language is considered an asset.
  • One security must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Driver’s license.

Temporary Receptionist

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Administration has a temporary position available for a Receptionist in each community of Bushe River, Chateh and Meander River, AB. This temporary position is to cover the DTFN offices during the Christmas break.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Answer telephone calls, respond to emails, inquiries, and relay messages.
  • Open, sort and date stamp all general correspondence.
  • Direct members and the public to the appropriate departments.
  • Other general office duties as may be required.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in Office Administration or previous experience working in an office setting is an asset.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be computer literate.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • The ability to speak the Dene language is a definite asset.

1 – Term position for Chateh

1 – Term position for Meander River

 

 

The Dene Tha’ First Nation Economic Development Program currently has term positions available for ISETS Technicians for the communities of Chateh and Meander River. These are term positions for approximately 2-3 months. One position is located out of the Administration Office in Chateh and one in the sub-office in Meander River.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing, monitoring, and evaluating activities related to the employment and training needs of the First Nation
  • Providing employment counseling, placements, assistance/referrals, job searches and related services to the First Nation members
  • Arranging training and job search strategies
  • Serving as a liaison for First Nation members with various industries for job and training placements
  • Locating funding sources from government, industry, and First Nation programs
  • Maintaining a database of employment history, certifications, education/skills of First Nation members
  • Performing other related duties as required or assigned by the Ec. Dev. Manager

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 supplemented by a Business Administration certificate
  • 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Excellent communication/writing and people skills
  • Use of computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service

 

The successful candidate must have reliable transportation with a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License and must provide a Criminal Record check with resume.
