Dene Tha’ First Nation Health Department is currently accepting applications for a Health Initiative Coordinator.
The Health Initiative Coordinator will work with DTFN members to improve and maintain the spiritual, physical,
intellectual, social and emotional well-being of the members, families and communities. This position will
support all 3 communities. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits and pension package.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Coordinate, monitor and provide assistance to First Responders, Safety Officers, CHR’s & Water
Monitor
• Responsible for all communication between dispatch and doctor on call
• Provide administrative support including managing and coordinating schedules, monitor & record
office workflow, prepare reports for management, organize training & workshops and arrange on call
options
• Organize monthly meetings, conferences & travel
• Conduct, supervise and participate in community awareness workshops on prevention of disease and
promotion of good health practice
• Monitor and evaluate health program workplan activities, including budgets, timelines and reporting
requirements
• Provide assistance to the Doctor, EMT’s and Safety Officers when required
• Provide support to the Program Support Coordinators and Health Director
• In cooperation with the Health Director and Community Health Coordinator; encourages teamwork,
shares outstanding contributions for individual and group efforts, and provides input into staff
development opportunities
• Performs other related duties assigned by the Community Health Coordinator or Director
REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum Grade 12
• Three to five years of experience in the health field
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and ability to manage time
efficiently
• Ability to work with the public and staff at all levels within the organization with minimal supervision
in a multiple task environment
• Read, understand and comply with DTFN safety policy, safe work practices, procedures and rules
• Hands-on application and use of computer systems and applications
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Good physical health, and emotional maturity
• Ability to speak and understand the Dene language is an asset
• Must have own transportation and a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, and must provide a clear
Criminal Record Check
provide acceptable proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or provide an approved exemption letter to request accommodation
