GAS UTILITY CLERK/BOOKKEEPER

 

The DTFN Natural Gas Utility has a full-time position available for a Gas Utility Clerk/Bookkeeper based out of their main office in Chateh. Location can be negotiable.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

 

·         Respond to public inquiries
·         Receive, direct and relay telephone and email messages
·         Provide word processing and secretarial support

·         Record and input all pertinent information providing efficiency, accuracy, and confidentiality

·         Maintain the general filing system and file all correspondence

·         Other miscellaneous and administrative functions

·         Bookkeeping duties include;

  • Reconcile accounts
  • Maintain general ledgers and financial statements
  • Data entry of all A/P and A/R and prepare for approval

 

Qualifications:

·         Minimum Grade 12 combined with office administration or relevant training in computer applications

·         Proficiency in using Excel/Word

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Able to complete complex administrative tasks with minimal supervision

·         Bookkeeping experience with a good understanding of debits, credits, and accounting entries (required)

·         Solid planning, organizing and critical thinking skills and commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer services

·         To read, understand and comply with DTFN and Federation of Alberta Gas

Co-ops Ltd safety policy, safe work practices, procedures, and rules

·         Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands

 

The successful candidate must be dependable and/or reliable, and the ability to speak the Dene language fluently is considered an asset. Room to train the right candidate for field work is an option, as well. The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record check and a Driver’s Abstract; must provide own transportation and possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
