Community Wellness Manager
The Dene Tha’ First Nation Health Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Wellness Manager to join our team. This role will provide leadership, guidance, and direction to community based life programs, needs of clients in various communities and evaluates the effectiveness of wellness programs by the department. The position is responsible for administrative duties, community service, and other programs. The position has benefits and a pension plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversees the Wellness program operations including program goals, objectives, work plans and providing leadership.
• Trains and supervises Wellness staff, setting and monitoring performance objectives, providing ongoing input and developing staff skills.
• Planning, developing and coordinating wellness programs and facilitating workshops.
• Provides information, advice, and resources to clients seeking support, information and support for addictions.
• Support collaboration with other departments, Health, Services providers, community members and leadership.
• Promotion of health and cultural awareness.
• Facilitate programs and engage Elders to assist with Dene Tha’ cultural and wellness enhancement.
• Contribution to policies, standards, procedures, code of ethics and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Other duties as directed by the Director of Health.
Education/Experience:
• Post-secondary education in Health, Counselling, or Psychology.
• Must have a relevant degree and experience in managing an addictions program for a First Nation, must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have extensive knowledge of addictions and counseling.
• Experience working in an Indigenous community and knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset.
• Must be computer literate and have experience with computer software programs.
• Must be open to learn and take training as required.
• Ability to work evenings and after-hours including weekends.
Requirements:
• Must have own transportation and a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License.
• Must be able to travel when required.
• Must be able to take direction and work within the communities of Bushe River, Chateh and Meander River, AB.
• This is a full-time position.
