The Dene Tha’ First Nation (DTFN) Administration Department is currently recruiting a Director of Corporate Services. The position will be located out of the Chateh Administration Office. The position is full time and offers a competitive benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Assists the EDO and department heads in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Oversees, develops, and supports the human resource department of the organization in line with DTFN administrative vision and values
  • Evaluates operational/capital requirements and service delivery and maximizes efficiencies
  • Meets regularly with the senior management team
  • Attends, or is represented by, all meetings of Council, Special Task Forces, Boards and Commissions appointed by the Council and EDO, and assists in the decision-making process
  • Provides direction and advice to the organization regarding information technology development to support all DTFN operations and member accessibility
  • Responsible for the administration of all bank accounts
  • Directs the preparation of financial statements and information for external audit
  • Develops and implements human resource policy and procedures for use throughout the organization. Assists other departments in recruitment and retention strategies. Assists the EDO in ensuring consistency in human resource practices throughout the organization
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned by the EDO

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in business administration. A recognized accounting designation or equivalent is desirable; example: CA, CMA, and CGA
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of progressively responsible experience in a similar supervisory capacity, including:
    • Effective management, team building, facilitation, negotiation, leadership, and supervisory strengths, with a commitment for continuous improvement
    • Personal initiative with good planning and organizational skills as well as a high degree of integrity and professionalism
    • Strong capacity to identify needs, plan and develop goals, priorities, and other outcome measures
    • Hands-on application and use of computer systems and applications
    • Effective, strong financial management skills
    • Cash management and proven investment experience
    • Solid planning, organizing and problem-solving skills
    • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer services

Other requirements: The successful candidate must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and have own transportation and must provide a clear Criminal Record Check.
