TREATY 8 ANNUITIES CLAIM: COMMUNITY UPDATE
Dene Tha’ Chief and Council are pleased to share that, as of today, June 2, 2026, the Minister has signed the Annuities Compensation Agreement.
This means that Canada now has 45 days to transfer the compensation money to the Compensation Trust. Once Canada transfers the money, the Trustee will begin distributing payments to eligible members.
This is a significant milestone for Dene Tha’ and reflects the hard work and persistence that has gone into advancing the annuities claim. We appreciate the community’s patience throughout this process.
