Notice is hereby given to the Electors of the Dene Tha’ First Nation that a Nomination Meeting will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Chateh Arena commencing at 1:00 P.M. and ending at 3:00 P.M. for the purpose of nominating candidates for the position of one (1) Chief. The nomination meeting will be held according to the Election Regulations 1993 of the Dene Tha’ First Nation.
And further take Notice that:
Should there be more eligible candidates than the number of positions for one (1) Chief, the Election will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026.
And further take Notice that:
A bond of fifty dollars ($50) must be posted at the time of nomination, or within 24 hours, by all candidates for the position of Chief. This bond will be in the form of cash, money order, or certified cheque. The bond will be made in favour of the Dene Tha’ Tribal Administration.
And further take Notice that:
Candidate means a member of the Dene Tha’ First Nation who is himself/herself eligible as an elector and who has:
A. Of the full age of twenty-one (21) years of age or older;
B. Who have been ordinarily resident on one of the Dene Tha’ Reserves for a period of not less than twelve (12) months immediately preceding the election may be nominated as a candidate. The elector nominating or seconding a nomination and the candidate must be ordinarily residents in the electoral district in which he/she is seeking election, with the exception of a nomination for the position of Chief, in which case, the candidate may live on any Dene Tha’ Reserve.
And further take Notice that:
A candidate for Councillor to be nominated, must appear before the electoral officer or deputy, prior to the close of the nomination meeting to accept or decline his/her nomination.
A Candidate for the position of Chief must appear before either the Electoral officer or Deputy in any of the nomination meetings wherein he/she has been nominated, regardless of the electoral district, to make this same declaration.
