Position Summary
The Field Assistant will support field operations related to environmental monitoring, forestry,
restoration, and land-based projects. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys
working outdoors, traveling to remote locations, and contributing to practical, hands-on field
programs. The successful candidate will assist with data collection, site assessments, field
logistics, and general project support while working closely with project staff and community
members.
This is a temporary 4-month position that may include work in varying weather and terrain
conditions. There is opportunity for this to become a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with fieldwork for environmental, forestry, reclamation, and restoration projects
• Support collection of field data, measurements, photos, GPS points, and site observations
• Help complete field forms, digital survey entries, and daily field notes
• Assist with monitoring vegetation, soils, water, wildlife, and general site conditions
• Support installation, checking, and maintenance of wildlife monitoring equipment
• Load, organize, clean, and maintain field gear, trucks, and supplies
• Assist with field logistics, and day-to-day operational needs
• Follow all company safety procedures and participate in safety meetings and hazard
assessments
• Work respectfully with team members, contractors, and community participants
• Support basic office or data-entry tasks during slower field periods, as needed
Qualifications
• Must like working outdoors rain or shine, hot or cold, bugs/wildlife or not
• Previous outdoor or fieldwork experience but willing to train the right candidate
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and good driving history is necessary
• Comfortable working outdoors in remote locations and variable weather conditions
• Physically able to walk long distances, carry field equipment, and work on uneven terrain
• Strong attention to detail and ability to record accurate information
• Willingness to learn new field methods, tools, and software
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience working with Indigenous communities or in community-based field programs
is an asset

• GPS units, tablets/ipads, iLands and similar tools
• ATV/UTV
• First Aid certification
• Desktop applications
Working Conditions
• Outdoor fieldwork for extended periods
• Travel to remote sites may be required
• Work may include early mornings, long field days, and physically demanding conditions
• Exposure to insects, rough terrain, weather, and wildlife hazards
• There will be an office work done weekly
