This year for Poison Prevention Week (March 15-21, 2026), we want to raise awareness about the toll-free numbers 1-844 POISON-X (1-844-764-7669) or 1-800-463-5060 in Quebec. Launched in 2023, this service is now the primary access point for poison centres’ critical, expert medical advice on poisonings for people in Canada. Of note, this service is intended for non-life threatening poisoning cases – if the person is unconscious, not breathing or having a seizure, call 911.
Despite the vital role that poison centres play in supporting people in Canada in the event of a poisoning, many people are unaware of how to access their help.
